Fisherwomen, divers, nuns, politicians, writers, artists and lawyers. Women of different ages, social conditions and even ethnicities, photographed in 1992 after a tour of Chile. "It was during these travels that I met Fresia Alessandri in the canals of Magallanes, who later transformed my original project into another one that I called Los nómades del mar (Nomads of the Sea). This series about women has continued with older people like Matilde Perez, Carmen Beuchat and Margot Loyola, but at AFA Gallery I will only show the work from 1992. I am interested in establishing an era, especially one that has just come out of the military dictatorship," she says of the photo exhibition that opens on December 18, which brings together 60 unpublished black and white photographs of women, many of them outstanding in their professions or trades, as well as other anonymous women doing work that is not highly valued.
