Biography

Her work has been exhibited in Chile and internationally, among which her exhibition Réplicas y Sombras at the Fundación Telefónica Hall in Santiago in 2004, at the Venice Biennale in 2015 and the retrospective Adentro-Afuera at the Fundación Mapfre in Madrid in 2015-2016, also exhibited in Arlés, France, the Museo Amparo in Puebla, Mexico and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Chile in 2018.

A co-founder of the Association of Independent Photographers (AFI) and a contributor to Apsi magazine and various press agencies, she has received Guggenheim (1986), Andes Foundation (1990), Fulbright (1992) and Fondart (1994, 2009 and 2018) grants.

She received the Ansel Adams Award from the Chilean-North American Institute of Culture in 1995, the Artistic Career Award from the Chilean Circle of Art Critics in 2005, and the Altazor Award in 2005. She received the Pablo Neruda Order of Merit in 2014 and the PhotoEspaña Award in 2015

In 2017 she received the Chilean National Prize for Plastic Arts.

Her work is included in the collections of Daros, the Tate Gallery in London, the MoMA in New York, and the Guggenheim and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Chile.

She lives and works in Chile.
